Creative Problem Solving
This course is designed to provide the skills needed to systematically evaluate problems, generate alternatives, and make decisions. The emphasis will be on applying basic problem solving concepts and techniques to solve day-to-day, on the job, issues.
- Defining the problem and breaking it into component parts
- Identifying the current situation versus the desired condition
- Isolating the causes of a problem
- Creating solutions and evaluating the advantages/disadvantages of each alternative, including ethical considerations
- Determining priorities, recognizing limitations of solutions, and anticipating contingencies
- Applying fundamental problem solving techniques to complex and everyday problems
- Packaging the final recommendations for approval
