Getting tired of your diet plan. Read this before you quit and regain the lost weight.

Scientists at Tufts and Stanford University reported in JAMA that calorie counting, fat free, and carb free diets do not work as well as a simpler approach with only a couple of rules. These rules are:

  • Minimize sugar and refined grains
  • Eat more vegetables and whole foods
  • When possible, cook at home
  • Maintain your exercise routine

Over a year’s time, the average weight loss for the 600 participants in the trial was 12 pounds. But here is the difference: no calorie counting, no restriction on how much you eat—just eat healthy food.

Other research suggests that successful eating plans must be easy, offer few obstacles and does not cause hunger stress- many diets cause a stress response with the end result that the body stores every calorie as fat.

If you can make the switch from processed foods and replace a majority with whole foods (healthy foods) you may have an answer to loosing weight, not starving, gain the benefits of a healthier life, and building a new relationship with food.
